Two times a year, the Teachers Without Borders network invites professionals from the Finnish education sector to apply for volunteer positions to support the quality of Finn Church Aid’s education programmes.
The call for applications for Teachers Without Borders positions is open from 18.3. until 6.4.2025.
Interviews will be conducted between 14.-30.4.2025.
Final selections will be announced to the applicants latest by the 15.5.2025.
A basic training is organised for successful applicants on the 4.6. at 4:30pm (online) and on the 7.-8.6.2025, in Helsinki. Please reserve the dates in your calendar to ensure that you can participate the training.

In a nutshell: you must have a degree in education and at least two years of relevant work experience, either the degree or the experience must be from the Finnish Education Sector. We also require excellent collaboration skills and flexibility, as well as a willingness to learn and share knowledge with colleagues working in different contexts.
Volunteering in-country is full-time. All expenses are covered, and a small daily allowance is paid. Distance positions are carried out alongside one’s own work. Distance work is compensated with a small remuneration, while smaller-scale remote work is carried out on a strictly voluntary basis.
Open positions
We are looking for ten education experts with specific expertise in developing or implementing career guidance and counselling at different grade levels, teacher training, early childhood education, teaching in crisis situations, psychosocial support as part of teaching, or inclusive and learner-centred pedagogy.

- Kenya: Supporting learner-centred pedagogy and formative assessment (3 months, 1 person)
- Palestine: Supporting inclusive and digital pedagogy and teacher education (3 months, 1–2 people)
- Ethiopia: Training teachers in crisis situations (1–2 months remotely, 1–3 months in-country, 1 person)
- Ukraine (distance support): Developing guidance and counselling methodologies and materials for schools and teachers (4 months, 3 people)
- South Sudan (distance support): Developing teacher education and early childhood education (4–5 months, possibly 2–4 weeks in-country, 2 people)
- Myanmar (distance support): Developing career guidance and life skills education for youth (3 months, 1 person)
- Palestine (distance support): Inclusive pedagogy and psychosocial support (4 months, 1–2 people)
Volunteer placements (in-country volunteering)
Volunteering in-country is unpaid, but the costs of departure and volunteering are reimbursed. We also pay a small monthly allowance to cover living costs in the host country.
